CreditCard-Account---Be-Clever-With-It
Society today makes it harder and harder to manage without a creditcard account. We are told that it is the safest way to purchase goods and services over the Internet or abroad as the transactions and goods are often covered by insurance. We can use it to manage our budgets, as there can be several weeks between purchasing the goods and being charged interest on what we've bought.

The media is constantly bombarding us with advertisements for what seems to be hundreds of different credit cards. The vast number of credit card accounts available is completely mind blowing and it's very difficult to know where to start if you're trying to choose one. All of the creditcard accounts on offer have some kind of advantages, which, depending on your circumstances to your benefit if you use them wisely.

I say "wisely" for a reason. It is very easy to forget how much you are spending on your creditcard and then find that you can't pay the whole balance back when the statement arrives. The trouble is, the more debt you get into, the harder it is to pay back, with interest and card protection sums in addition to what you've spent. Some creditcard accounts make an annual charge just for having them! The best thing you can do is to pay it back as quickly as you can.

If you are organised enough, look for a card that works best for you. Some card accounts give cash back when you use it, if you travel a lot; find a card that will give you air miles. Just like anything else, the credit card companies are trying to entice you to use their card to purchase - so make it work for you!

Don't forget to check out the credit card account for any other hidden charges in addition to the interest rate. You might find that there is an annual or even monthly fee just for having the account. I would personally keep well clear of those types of accounts unless there is a clear benefit in some other way.

It's not so long ago that you were only able to open a credit card account with the bank you have traditional accounts with. If you wanted to do something different then you had to use charge cards like Diners Club or American Express. Charge cards have to be paid off in full when the statement arrives and I could never really see any advantage to using them. If you are still using a credit card from that era you might want to look around to see what is on offer today. If you haven't done that for a while you might be pleasantly surprised.

The Sale Of Goods Act in the UK protects consumers from any problems with their purchases. There are times though, when there is a dispute, that having a large reputable credit card company fighting for you can be a considerable advantage so remember this when you have the choice of using your card or paying by cash.

If you buy goods online regularly, it might be a good idea to find a credit card account that offers an online fraud guarantee. This protects you from unauthorised charges being made against your card as a result of using your card online. With the reported increase in this type of crime, you could find that having this protection is very worthwhile.

It is now easier than it has ever been for merchants to accept credit cards both on and off line and in many cases it is the only viable option. If you don't have a card yet I wonder just how much longer you will be able to hold out. Whatever you do, use the card wisely and don't allow it to control you.
