We live in a fast-paced, stressful environment. The mental and physical stresses we face on a daily basis are dangerous to our health and of course our contentment. Numerous hours are spent sitting in front of the computer or even bent over a desk. That’s if we’re not running around, lugging, lifting and wreaking havoc in our minds and bodies. It is absolutely not a possibility to feel good without appropriately caring for our bodies. Our stress and severe fatigue comes from what we may sometimes consider insignificant such as poor posture, lack of proper breathing and imbalances in the body. If we first learn to appropriately control and fortify our muscles, then we can subject the muscles to the rigors of day-to-day living.
Ergonomics is certainly not a technique of heavy weights and straining of the body which leaves you exhausted and in pain. On the contrary, it affords you the benefit of simultaneously strengthening the body muscles while you are developing a routine of relaxed maneuvers for the body to follow. We constantly strain ourselves in an effort to become muscle-bound and cut. In fact, we should simply enjoy the simple, natural technique of ergonomics, first and foremost.
When we gesture, walk move and run, we do so inherently (without thinking) because it’s subconscious. Ergonomics was designed for this purpose because that’s the way it ought to be. As we smoothly go from one maneuver to the next, we are in fact re-developing the natural movement of the body. When we move as humans, we opt to focus on one area or another as we ignore the rest. Ironically, whether we walk, stand or even sit up in a chair, we should utilize every one of our muscles. In this day and age, it seems that only our leisure activities and hobbies help us relax and invigorate. Honestly, we can easily utilize the suppleness and strength inherent in our bodies through ergonomics.
A number of individuals that exercise have become accustomed to being sore and hardly able to move after a serious workout. What they fail to understand is that soreness is not an indicator that the workout is a success. In fact, muscle soreness results from a lactic acid buildup in the muscle, tearing of muscle tissue or even improper stretching. The energy our body needs to expend to counteract fatigue or repair body damage is exactly what deducts from the effectiveness of the workout.
With ergonomics, there is no ripping of body muscle tissue, the jarring pounding on the joints or body exhaustion of the muscles beyond efficiency. Each movement has a clear and concise goal with a prescribed maximum of repetitions. This is assuming that the ergonomics procedures are done correctly, that you are working the muscles so efficiently with precision that it’s not necessary to do more than needed. Ergonomics was developed to work specifically with the deepest muscles in the body, not only to prevent pain and injury from repetitive body straining, but to stretch and strengthen the body without the pain that often comes with conventional aerobic and weight exercises. Ergonomics strengthens and stretches the muscles, so there is no fear of not being properly warmed-up.
In ergonomics, there is absolutely nothing that will work for you that you choose not to make work for you. The mental and physical commitment made to achieve your goal is the most crucial step in the process of mobility and change.
